Entry

• The SIRC International Photographic Competition (“Competition”) opens 8:30 am (EDT) June 30, 2010.
• Entry to the competition is free.
• By entering this competition you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.
• Contestants may enter as often as they wish.
• Photos entered into the competition may also be used to create a photographic database to be used by SIRC.

Who Can Enter

• The competition is open to everyone but SIRC employees and their immediate families. Photographers of any age may enter, although contestants who are under 18 years of age must have the consent of their parents or legal guardian.

How to Enter

• Only online entries will be accepted.
• Entries must be in JPEG or GIF format.
• Images must be 2MB or smaller.
• Entries must be submitted by 4:30 pm (EDT)August 20, 2010.
• No late entries will be accepted. It is the contestant’s sole responsibility to ensure that their entry is correctly submitted in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

Acknowledgement

• The contestant must own the copyright in the photograph submitted and the contestant warrants that use of the images in accordance with these Terms and Condition will not infringe the intellectual property rights, or rights of privacy of any person, contained there in.
• The contestant grants to SIRC, successors and assigns, its licensees, all necessary authority, right and license to use, without any compensation or recognition of any kind, for any legal purpose whatsoever including the right to reproduce the photograph in all forms and in all existing or future developed media and technologies, the right edit the photograph or to combine or incorporate the photograph into other works, and the right to use the photograph alone or in combination with other persons or images or bearing the marks and branding of SIRC or other persons.
• The contestant represents and warrants to SIRC that the submitter has obtained the consent and approval of all other persons depicted in the photograph to submit the photograph to SIRC and authorize SIRC to use the image and likeness of such persons upon the terms and conditions outlined herein.
• The contestant releases SIRC and its employees and representatives from any and all claims which the contestant may now or in the future have relating to the reproduction, display or distribution of the photograph. The contestant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless SIRC, its employees and representatives from and against all costs, damages and expenses SIRC may suffer as a result of a claim, action or cause of action by any person depicted in the photograph.
• All entries become the property of SIRC. Receipt of entries cannot be acknowledged and entries cannot be returned.

Judging

• Judges will be looking for entries which:
  • Demonstrate a strong connection to the competition theme “Capture the Moment”.
  • Creativity, quality and depiction of the theme will be considered in the judging process.
• Photos must fit into one of the following themes: injury prevention/treatment, coaching/officiating, sport/physical activity (action) or general. Decisions of the judges are final.
• Questionable content will not be considered.
• SIRC in its sole discretion shall determine what constitutes inappropriate or questionable content.
• The judges will consist of members of SIRC (or its selected representatives).
• The process of judging will also include online voting by the community.
• The SIRC Judging panel, will shortlist photos for online voting.
• Online voting by the community will determine the winners.
• SIRC reserves the right to cancel, suspend or postpone the competition at any time and for any reason. SIRC will not be liable to any person for any loss damage or claim arising from such cancellation, suspension or postponement. SIRC will not return photographs submitted.

Announcement

• Online voting will commence 8:30 am (EDT) August 30, 2010 and cease 4:30 pm (EDT) September 10, 2010.
• Winning photographs will be announced September 17, 2010.

Prizes

• 1st Prize: Romantic weekend stay for two including breakfast at a participating* Crowne Plaza Hotel across Canada. Package includes bottle of chilled sparkling wine, an aromatherapy basket and parking. (value $700)
• 2nd Prize: “JABULANI”, the Official Match Ball for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. The “JABULANI”, which means “to celebrate” in isiZulu, features a South African inspired design and radically new technology. (value $150)
• 3rd Prize: Canon PowerShot A480 Digital Camera (value $100)

• SIRC reserves the right to substitute prizes for an equal or greater value prize at anytime.

Legal

• This competition is governed by the laws of Canada.
• Contest is void where prohibited. All federal, provincial, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winners.
