Arly Fogarty
Para-Alpine Skiing
français
Arly, or “R” as her team mates call her, has been an active skier since the age of five. She began alpine ski racing at 16 and has been a consistent force ever since. She started competing on the national team in 2003 and raced her first World Cup Events in 2005 in Kimberley, British Columbia where she delivered a top performance. Arly has not let a condition called Holt-Oram syndrome, which affects the bones in her upper limbs, hamper her goals on and off the hill. At the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Torino she finished 11th in the Downhill, 15th in GS and 10th in Super G. Her first career World Cup podium finish was a bronze in Super G held in Abtenau, Austria. She is the 2007 and 2008 Canadian Champion in Giant Slalom standing category and the 2005 Para-Alpine Female Athlete of the Year.
