Position: Health and Wellness Coordinator

Job Description:
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health & Wellness Manager, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for the implementation and delivery of the Company’s Health and Wellness Program for the Company’s Winnipeg operations. The scope includes the personnel located within their region and the project site staff – approx. 300 people in the region. The coordinator will modify, implement and evaluate the Health and Wellness Program in their region to meet the needs of the company’s growing team.

More specifically, the candidate’s responsibilities will include:
• Develop, execute and deliver the Health and Wellness Program created by the Health and Wellness Manager in designated region of SODCL for office and project site staff focusing in our three main areas:
o Physical Fitness;
o Mental Wellness;
o Nutrition;
• Create an active and participative environment that promotes and engages employees to consider and improve their personal health and well-being;
• Create an equally active and participative environment at all project site locations that encourages employees (salary, hourly and union) to improve personal health and well-being;
• Organize and deliver office wellness activities, office lunch n’ learn presentations, office physical fitness activities, yoga classes, site specific lunch n’ learn presentations and lead office stretching program;
• Monitor and encourage the stretching bootcamp program on project sites and provide constant feedback to Health and Wellness Manager for yearly upgrading;
• Provide individual support to employees to promote work/life balance – ie. customized exercise programs, nutritional analysis and guidance, healthcare advice, stress management;
• Developing a personal relationship with all regional employees, monitoring their personal progress, wants and needs;
• Actively promote the Health and Wellness Program by researching local sporting or wellness events and promotions and encouraging staff to participate in regional or individual challenges; and
• Developing a workplace environment, in the office and on project site, that supports positive learning, growth and development and personal care.

Performance Expectations
• Implement the company Health and Wellness Program and engage an many Stuart Olson Dominion employees as possible – goal: 50% active participation in each region;
• Track participation and progress throughout region;
• Actively interface, support, coach and mentor all regional employees on the benefits of continuously maintaining and improving personal health and well-being;
• Expectations of all external and internal stakeholders are met; and
• Blueprint is practiced.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be a graduate with a post-secondary degree in kinesiology, physical education, recreation or related field. He/she will have a minimum 2 years of post-graduate work experience preferably with a large company. Certified personal trainer and yoga instructor certification an asset.

The candidate must have the ability to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, flexible work hours available.
