Canadian Olympic Committee

Position: Intern, Hosting & Bidding

Job Description:
Be a part of building and servicing a national brand. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

The COC is seeking an Intern, Bidding and Hosting for its office in Montreal. The Intern will support the implementation of various aspects of the Bidding and Hosting strategy. They will assist the Manager with administrative tasks and follow ups while populating the department’s information database. The Intern will also research external information needed to develop the Bidding and Hosting program. The function’s objective is to create a best practices platform for National Sport Federations (NSFs) and other stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities and Priorities:
NSF Bidding/Hosting
• Communicate with NSFs and event organizers to coordinate the presence of COC Executives at NSF events (eg. International events, National Championships and Annual General Meetings)

COC Bidding/Hosting
• Coordinate the data entry from each of the departments (events and bid calendar)
• Assist in the research of information from international websites on best practices in the area of bidding and hosting
• Assist in drafting the RFP proposal for COC events
• Coordinate meetings and follow ups for the department
• Prepare third party invitations to various events

Qualifications and Critical Skills:

Knowledge required includes:
• Understanding of the reality of cities and local sport organizations
• Latest research techniques for online information
• Understanding of the Canadian Sport System
• Knowledge of IOC and International Federation rules and regulations

Skills required include:
• Excellent writing skills in both French and English
• Coachable
• Project Management
• Collaboration and teamwork
• Accepts direction and constructive criticism
• Multi-tasking
• Detail oriented/thorough

Education: Completed or currently completing a university degree in sport related field preferred; international relations skills considered

Background: Sport management
Experience: Knowledge of the international sport industry Participation in the operational delivery of sporting events

Computer Skills: Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

Bilingualism: Perfectly bilingual (French, English) and third language preferred (ideally Spanish or Portuguese).
