Position: Administrator, Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
Be a part of building and servicing a national brand. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.
The COC is seeking a highly organized individual with experience providing accounting and administrative assistance to all business functions. This position of AP/AR Administrator is located in the Toronto office and will support the COC’s Finance function by performing accounting activities for both the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Olympic Foundation. These activities revolve mainly around the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Accounting functions while ensuring that financial policies and procedures are respected. This position will also provide back up support for payroll.
Core Responsibilities and Priorities:
Accounts Payable: 55% • Match receiving documents and invoices and handle discrepancies • Obtain and verify approval authorizations • Audit expense reports for accounting allocation • Enter invoices for payment in the Accounts Payable system • Process weekly and emergency cheques as needed • Maintain A/P filing system • Manage and Process Corporate Visa statement reconciliations
Accounts Receivable: 20% • Ensure all A/R are accurately invoiced and collected in a timely fashion • Send out statements at month end and follow up both internally and externally on outstanding invoices • Maintain A/R filing system
General Accounting: 10% • Prepare and enter adjusting journal entries • Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations
Banking: 5% • Record and deposit cash receipts • Process credit card transactions • Prepare USD & CDN bank reconciliation and all other operational bank account reconciliations
Other: 5% • Optimize the efficiency of the COC by assisting in special projects as required. • Responsible for key control
Tax Remittances: 3% • Prepare and file monthly HST/GST/QST remittances within reporting deadlines
Payroll: 2% • Assist in payroll submission
Qualifications and Critical Skills: • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles • 5+ years of work experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable • Knowledge of Accpac or similar accounting software • Excel – basic to intermediate experience • Word – basic experience • Close attention to detail • Strong communication skills – verbal
