Ultimate Canada

Position: Events Manager

Job Description:
The Events Manager has the lead responsibility for the operation of Ultimate Canada competitive events. In addition to supporting competitive events, the position will also support some Ultimate Canada programs. These programs will be determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. This position reports to the Ultimate Canada Executive Director.

DUTIES:
The Events Manager has the following responsibilities:
- Supporting tournament organizing committees in the operation of the Canadian Ultimate Championships and the Canadian University Ultimate Championships
- Organizing and operating Ultimate Canada tournaments including the Canadian High School Ultimate Championships and the Canadian Eastern University Ultimate Championships
- Managing and organizing new developmental events
- Recruitment, training and support of volunteers related to events and programs
- Fostering positive relationships with sponsors, suppliers and members
- Marketing and promotion of Ultimate Canada events and programs
- Supporting Ultimate Canada programs
- Website content management
- Other tasks, as identified by the Executive Director NOTE: The events manager will not be able to compete in events that he/she is operating and likely will not be able to compete in events that he/she is supporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess the following mandatory qualifications:
- Degree and/or or several years experience in sports administration, or similar discipline
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize work and to multitask
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Access to an automobile
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- A high level of comfort with office computing and Internet technologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends as required

The following assets are considered desirable, but are not required:
- Experience operating Ultimate tournaments and programs
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in both official languages
- Experience with graphic design and/or web design
- Based out of Ontario or Quebec

TERM:
The term for this contract position is one (1) year commencing on January 3, 2013 and ending on January 2, 2014. The contract could potentially be extended for an additional year(s) based on the success of events and programs in 2013 and mutual agreement between the candidate and Ultimate Canada.

RENUMERATION:
Based on the experience and education of the successful candidate. Range: $40,000-45,000
