Position: Account Executive
Edmonton Rush Lacrosse Club: The Edmonton Rush is a professional lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) that began play for the 2006 NLL season. The Rush is owned by businessman and Calgary resident Bruce Urban, who purchased the dormant Ottawa Rebel to start the Edmonton team.
The NLL announced that Edmonton, Alberta would receive an NLL franchise on May 5, 2005. The Rush is one of the three Canadian Teams in the NLL, along with Toronto and Calgary. The league currently holds nine teams, six of them being in the United States. The Rush is currently in its eighth season, and plays its home games at Rexall Place, which is also the home of the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL.
Much like the NHL, the arrival of the Rush in Edmonton spawned another version of the “Battle of Alberta” with nearby rival the Calgary Roughnecks.
Coming off one of the most successful seasons for the team that saw them become 2012 Western Conference Champions, the Rush is excited about the future of this team and its loyal fan base.
Account Executive: As an Account Executive for the Edmonton Rush, you will begin building your sports resume through your performance developing relationships throughout the Capital Region that produce new ticket sales opportunities. A successful executive will use cold calls, face-to-face meetings and email marketing as methods for building lasting relationships with local businesses and individuals. As a member of the sales team, a high level of performance will enable you the opportunity to take on additional roles in both sales and management as your skills and resume continuously develop. The ability to work as a part of team is a must.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities: • Make cold calls from provided lists to area companies to build new relationships • Use a full catalog of inventory items (Group seats, Full & Mini Packages, Food & Beverage Options, Suites, Meetings Space, etc.) to customize a comprehensive hospitality package that fits your client’s every need • Handle all incoming sales calls • Actively prospect and research new sales leads • Meet or exceed weekly and monthly sales goals in the areas of season, group, and partial-plan ticket packages • Maintain computerized records of all season and group customers • Provide superior customer service to clients – existing ticket holders, prospects, and single game customers • Sell other special projects when necessary • Be present at all home games to service your customers, establish new relationships and help manage the game-day duties • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Ticket Sales
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma: a focus in business and/or sport & event marketing preferred • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment • Strong communication and computer skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Creativity • Highly motivated with a desire to be successful • Aggressive, competitive and committed to the sports industry • Detail-oriented and organized • Prior customer service and/or sales experience is an asset • Experience working for a team, athletic department or event is an asset
