Position: Senior Manager, Brand Marketing
Be a part of building and servicing a national brand. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic, Youth Olympic and Pan American Games.
The COC is seeking a dynamic individual to join its Toronto office. This position will support the Canadian Olympic Committee’s (COC) Marketing Department. Working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, and the Director of Digital Strategy, the primary function of this position is to assist in the creation of the brand management plan and to lead its execution. The focus will be on managing all aspects of brand integration across key marketing platforms, with a particular focus on marketing the Canadian Olympic Team, consumer activations with marketing partners, and marketing research. This individual will work closely with all other departments to support our overall marketing strategy, particularly Marketing Partnerships, Communications, Digital Strategy, Education, Youth and Community Outreach and the Canadian Olympic Foundation.
Core Responsibilities and Priorities: • Assist with the development of the brand management plan, and assist and advise other marketing functions with brand counsel where applicable. • Be the main liaison with agency partners for execution of the COC Olympic brand strategy. • Assist the CMO with the branding of annual COC signature events (Hall of Fame Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremony, Heroes Tour, Olympic Day, Team Send-Off, Welcome Home, Community Outreach Program, Golf Tournaments, etc.) • Responsible for branding of Canada Olympic House during Olympic Games • Management of overall brand budget. • HR resource allocation (COC employees, contract resources, and volunteers). • Manage sponsor recognition plan, pageantry, regalia, etc. in concert with COC Marketing Partnerships. • Partner with COC departments including, but not limited to, Communications, Athlete Services, Finance, Operations and Olympic Preparation and Games to ensure the successful delivery of brand initiatives. • Supervise professional service providers, vendors and suppliers. • Manage paid external consultants for outsourced brand projects. • Liaise with Olympic Preparation & Games team and marketing staff to provide expertise on the marketing of the Olympic Games. • Liaise with Canadian Olympic Foundation to create branding for fundraising plans aligned with their needs and in support of the COC’s strategic quadrennial plan. • Work closely with the Marketing Partnerships department to assist with the design and implementation of key partnership activation platforms in areas of marketing, retail sales promotion, events, digital media integration and social media executions. • In cooperation with the Marketing Partnerships department, create programs to leverage and maximize the sponsor and broadcast partner assets as identified, necessary to build the COC brand. • Identify, develop and execute outside media partnerships that can be used to leverage additional paid and non-paid media opportunities.
Qualifications and Critical Skills: • University degree in marketing or business degree. • 5-7 years of proven experience, in marketing, sponsorship and/or sports marketing. • We want a smart, creative, strategic individual with a sharp eye for good design and innovative marketing concepts. • Strong verbal and written communications skills. Bilingualism (French, English) is an asset. • Deep understanding of digital and social media • Experience attending commercial advertising shoots and working with advertising agencies. • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and deploy resources in areas that have greatest positive impact on results. • Self-starter and ability to work effectively within a team concept. • Ability to maintain balance between vision and attention to detail. • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with various internal and external colleagues/stakeholders. • Strong computer software expertise, including Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook. Microsoft Project expertise is an asset.
