Job Description:
POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant
REPORTS TO: Director, Administration
POSITION SUMMARY:
Windsor-Essex Sports Council (WESC) is a regional sports organization (RSO) dedicated to advancing sport from playground to podium.
As instructed by the Director, Administration belonging to WESC, the research assistant will be responsible for data collection and information management, which will be used to establish communication with all sport organizations throughout the region of Windsor-Essex County while determining the need for this entity.
This individual will work in collaboration with various community sport organizations, associations, businesses and municipalities.
He / She will be tasked with collecting all administrative and coaching contacts from community sport organizations throughout the region of Windsor-Essex County while providing superior customer service.
At the conclusion of the data collection stage, a study will be conducted by this individual, the Director, Administration and members belonging to the Board of Directors to determine both feasibility and sustainability of WESC through an online questionnaire.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Research Assistant's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Collect, analyze and collate research into a solidified report / spreadsheet while maintaining accurate records through all stages of the study; 2. Establish research planning policies and guidelines under the guidance of the Director, Administration; 3. Be responsive to input that will facilitate the success of the research study; 4. Work in collaboration with the Director, Administration representing the WESC Board of Directors; 5. Assist the Director, Administration with the development, implementation and evaluation of the study; 6. Manage appropriate and efficient communication links between WESC and procured contacts to ensure timely responses and efficient customer service; 7. Provide weekly and updates on progress to the Director, Administration; 8. Assist with all other duties as requested by the Director, Administration that contribute to the overall success of the Windsor-Essex Sports Council.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Working towards University Degree in Kinesiology or Sport Management; * Minimum of 1 year sport, research and / or event management related experience in either the public or private sectors; * Familiarity with the Canadian Amateur Sport Delivery System, Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance, Sport Alliance Ontario and grassroots programming at the community level is considered an asset; * Proficient communications (both verbal and written) and presentation skills; * Strong project management skills with a superior attention to detail; * A self-directed and enthusiastic team player; * A proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; * An ability to work in a flexible team environment; * Familiarity and intermediate use of Microsoft Office applications with a desire or demonstrated ability using MS Excel for the purposes of data entry to conduct a fluid study.
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP (OR) VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: This position is three (3) months in duration. The intern / volunteer will work approximately 9 hours a week with flexibility to accommodate academic and athletic schedules (where applicable).
The intern / volunteer will also be required to complete a mid-way and post internship / volunteer evaluation as required by The University of Windsor, Department of Kinesiology OR where applicable the institution of their current academic enrolment.
