Position: Games Consultant

Job Description:
Sport Alliance Ontario (SAO) is a not-for-profit sport organization that delivers sport development programs and services throughout Ontario in partnership with provincial and community organizations. It is the goal of SAO to support personal and community development through sport opportunities – from Playground to Podium. SAO delivers six multi-sport Games showcasing Ontario’s athletes and communities.

The Games Consultant is responsible for building and developing partnerships and collaborative relationships with Provincial Sport Organizations and community stakeholders, through the management of the Ontario Games Program and Ontario Sport Awards Program. The ability to lead projects, work in team environments with diverse groups of staff and volunteers, and build and maintain project momentum which will result in successful Ontario Games and Ontario Sport Awards which play a key roles in amateur sport development in the province.

Major Responsibilities
• Work directly with provincial sport organizations and related associations, host communities, and their staff and volunteers to support the delivery of the Ontario Games and Ontario Sport Awards Programs.
• Research and development of Ontario Games and Sport Awards “best practices”, policy and procedure.
• Represent SAO at meetings, conferences, and special events related to Ontario Games and Sport Awards Program.
• Assist with the management of partnerships between the SAO, its partners, and suppliers and contractors to ensure timely, effective results.
• Assist with the management of special projects, program evaluation, and budgets effectively.
• Ensures that all programs and events support the SAO business plan.
• Act as liaison between SAO, Host Municipalities and provincial sport organizations on all aspects of the delivery of the Ontario Games and Sport Awards Program.
• Provide consultative services and advice to Host Organizing Committees and Provincial Sport Organizations for Ontario Games and Sport Awards Program
• Administer transfer payments to Host Municipalities and oversee/monitor SAO/ Ministry investment related to Ontario Games and Sport Awards.
• Administer and oversee contracts between PSO’s and Host Organizing Committees and SAO related to Ontario Games and Sport Awards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Post-secondary diploma/degree sport administration/management or a closely related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Thorough knowledge of the amateur sport system demonstrated through direct working experience with Provincial, National or Multi Sport Organizations.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Games and Sport Awards Program, Games planning and delivery with multi- sport events.
• Experience in working with volunteer committees.
• Must have strong event management skills, expertise and knowledge in conflict resolution and possess strong negotiating and communication skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Valid Driver’s License is a requirement.

Salary Range: $45,00-$50,000
