Position: Summer Internships

Job Description:
Golf Canada is seeking applicants for the following summer internships (APPLY TO ONE);

Sales Centre Intern (4 Positions)
• Responsible for receiving, processing and packaging orders for the RBC Canadian Open, CN Canadian Women’s Open, other Golf Canada Programs
• Responsible for ongoing ticket reconciliation
• Assist with processing and packaging of Golf Canada Estore orders
• Work with Business Development division to manage sponsor ticket distribution for both championships
• Customer service experience an asset
• French communication skills are not required, but a definite asset
• Some weekends required

RBC Canadian Open / CN Canadian Women’s Open Intern (2 Positions)
• Become a key member of Golf Canada’s Championships Division and assist with the organization of the RBC Canadian Open and the CN Canadian Women’s Open
• Work closely with the championship organizing committees and 3000 volunteers
• Process volunteer application forms, volunteer uniform payments and maintain volunteer database
• Manage Pro-Am database and develop Pro-Am information for corporate clients
• Maintain championships websites and update as needed
• Prepare correspondence and mailings as requested to effectively communicate with clubs, committees, volunteers and players
• Produce and distribute championship documents such as a volunteer manual, amateur caddie packages and volunteer training documents
• Assist with all aspects of the division as required, including inventory, tournament preparations, promotions and program development
• Write and proof-read documents, telephone duties, coordinate meetings, faxing, photocopying and ordering of supplies
• Handle incoming Golf Canada Championship related queries
• During tournament week, and weeks preceding the championship, work with the Golf Canada staff in the on-site Tournament Office (Edmonton, AB and Oakville, ON) and perform duties such as office set-up, uniform distribution, volunteer training, pro-am organization etc.
• This position will require work on weekends, very early mornings and late nights. Successful candidates must be able to work long hours while maintaining a positive attitude

Tournament Operations – Traveling Intern (4 positions)

Amateur Competitions Office Intern (2 positions)
• Become a key member of Golf Canada’s Amateur Competitions Division and assist with the organization of Canadian Amateur Championships
• Work closely with the championship organizing committees and host club volunteers
• Inputting tournament entry applications and managing entry fees with Accounting Division
• Maintain amateur championships websites and update as needed
• Assist with all aspects of the division as required, including inventory, tournament preparations, promotions and program development
• Liaise with national golf associations and NCAA coaches to recruit top amateurs from around the world to compete in our Canadian Championships
• Write and proof-read documents, telephone duties, coordinate meetings, photocopying and ordering of equipment/supplies

Player Development Intern
• National Order of Merit responsibilities
o Responsible for maintaining four National Order of Merit ranking systems for amateur & junior golf
o Researching, cataloging and data entry of all tournament results
o Ensuring the most current results are posted on the Golf Canada website
o Responding to player / parent questions regarding the National Order of Merit.

• Team Canada & Junior High Performance responsibilities
o Fulfillment of team uniforms, clothing, equipment, etc for National Team athletes
o Assist with the planning and execution of the Team Canada Media Day event, corporate partner golf days and other Team Canada related fundraising initiatives or activities
o Entry of Team Canada related performance data into an online database
o Assist with processing of player, coaches & sport science expenses
• Assist with special projects related to Player Development as assigned
• Assist with servicing CN Future Links and Golf in Schools site locations as required.
Note – A competitive golfing background is an asset for this position but not a requirement

Sport Development Intern (2 Positions)
• Provide customer service to a range of junior golf stakeholders including instructors, parents and facilities for the CN Future Links program (FL)
• Provide customer service to teachers running the Golf in Schools (GIS) program
• Generate new creative collateral for the FL and GIS programs
• Assist in the generation of new ideas and strategies for the growth of the elementary and high school GIS programs
• Work with various stakeholders to obtain and fulfill GIS adoption opportunities with schools across the country
• Responsible for processing, tracking and fulfilling FL and GIS online orders
• Manage and track inventory levels of FL and GIS materials, merchandise and equipment
• Assist golf instructors in tracking FL participant progress online with a content management system
• Assist in planning and execution of junior initiatives at RBC Canadian Open and CN Canadian Women’s Open
• Assist in planning and execution of the Junior Skills Challenge National Event
• Assist in maintaining both FL & GIS websites and making updates when necessary
• Assist in creating communications initiatives to promote FL programs

Golf Fore the Cure Intern
• Assist in growing the Golf Fore the Cure program across the country
• Responsible for continued communication with Golf Fore the Cure stakeholders and national program sponsors on a week to week basis
• Responsible for coordinating packaging, shipping and tracking weekly event kit shipments to all sites across Canada
• Provide support to the Coordinator, Recreational Programs with the fulfilment of Golf Fore the Cure event product orders
• Responsible for entering all participant information into a database
• Reconcile incoming donations with the Canadian Cancer Society and Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation
• Responsible for updating the Golf Fore the Cure website
• Assist in organizing and executing the Golf Fore the Cure - National Event

Museum Intern (2 Positions)
• Assist in the accessioning of the museums archival, artifact, photograph, and library collection
• Enter data on to the external and internal cataloguing systems
• Assist in covering the front desk of the museum on a regular basis and the main reception desk and/or the museum desk during weekends and holidays
• Assist with exhibit preparation, staffing off-site exhibits and general filing/maintenance of the archives and museum
• Digitizing and photographing collection (including photographs, artefacts, archives, film)
• Research and respond to requests for information
• Staffing the museum, provide tours and customer service as required
• Work special events as required

Business Development Intern
• Implement the sales plan for the RBC Canadian Open (RBCCO) and CN Canadian Women’s Open (CNCWO) corporate hospitality inventory
• Correspond with past, current and potential Golf Canada customers
• Research sponsor prospect businesses and prepare sponsor presentations for RBCCO, CNCWO and other Golf Canada properties
• Support ticket sales strategy for RBCCO and CNCWO
• Prospect new revenue opportunities

Partnership Marketing Intern
• Provide support to the Coordinator, Partnership Marketing and Director, Partnership Marketing working with Golf Canada’s sponsors as a key member of the Partnership Marketing team
• Support the development and execution of sponsor service plans as per their respective agreements including the timely and accurate fulfillment of all contract obligations
• Correspond with Golf Canada’s sponsors on agreement deliverables, brand approvals, event invitations and the partner appreciation program
• Aid in the planning, development and fulfillment of creative sponsor activation ideas for RBC Canadian Open, CN Canadian Women’s Open and other Golf Canada properties
• Maintain high quality, up to date materials on all assigned properties
• Prepare sponsor reports
• Provide administrative support in the following areas;
o Compile photos and prepare sponsor reports
o Research sponsor prospect businesses and prepare sponsor presentations
o Filing, binding, printing, photocopying or other duties as assigned

Licensing and Merchandising Intern
• Provide direct support to the Manager, Licensing & Merchandising
• Assist with various aspects of merchandising the 2013 Golf Canada Tent at the RBC Canadian Open (Glen Abbey Golf Club, July 22-28). This includes buying, layout, inventory management, fixture requirements/orders, on-site/event set-up and take-down, scheduling of sales associates, sales and inventory report summaries, etc.
• Assist in any Golf Canada Boutique (E-store) requirements www.boutique.golfcanada.ca. This includes inventory management, product orders, etc.
• Correspond with key suppliers (e.g. Adidas, Titleist, Under Armour) for merchandise related requests
• Assist with various aspects of corporate merchandise orders (e.g. coordinate embroidery, delivery follow-up)
• Source and provide product/gifting recommendations for key partners (e.g. RBC & BMW), RBC Canadian Open Hospitality buyers and other corporate customers.
• Provide support with various aspects of Golf Canada Official licensed programs (e.g. contracts, royalty tracking, product approvals)
• Assist with sourcing TaylorMade-Adidas Golf products for various Golf Canada programs (e.g. Golf Fore the Cure)
• Provide administrative support in the following areas:
o Purchase orders, invoicing, tracking royalties (training provided)
o Photocopying or other administrative duties as assigned
• Maintain current customer and vendor catalogue files
• Participate in special projects and assignments as requested

Media & Public Relations Intern
• Act as primary media contact for 7-10 national/regional golf championships across Canada (some travel required)
• Manage the on-site media centre and facilitate relationships with journalists at Golf Canada championships
• Develop content for Golf Canada on-line properties and publications (i.e. golfcanada.ca, Golf Canada magazine, e-Golf Canada, etc.)
• Create player programs for Golf Canada amateur and junior golf championships
• Research, write and distribute media releases
• Create and maintain local, regional and national media databases
• Assist with communication initiatives for two (2) Golf Canada professional golf championships (RBC Canadian Open & CN Canadian Women’s Open)
• Background in communications, public relations or journalism considered an asset
• Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and other design and/or web publishing programs as well as social media considered an asset
• Updating/producing media guides for Golf Canada’s professional championships
• French communication skills are not required, but a definite asset

Online Communications Intern
• Developing content for all Golf Canada properties, including golfcanada.ca, rbccanadianopen.com and cncanadianwomensopen.com
• Assisting with social network monitoring and messaging
• Creating videos for Golf Canada’s YouTube channel (Added this one)
• Assist with creation of Golf Canada’s e-newsletter, eGolf Canada
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Premiere (added this too), HTML, video capturing and editing, as well as other design and/or web publishing programs is essential
• French communication skills are not required, but a definite asset

Applications:
The successful candidates for these positions will be enthusiastic, self-starters with superior computer (Microsoft Office, MS Outlook) and communication skills, capable of working with a minimum of supervision. Candidates with experience in customer service preferred. Golf knowledge and bilingualism (French and English) considered an asset.
