Hockey Canada

Job Description:

World sports leaders, Hockey Canada is the governing body for hockey in Canada and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), with a membership through its 13 provincial branch associations of over 700,000 players, coaches and officials. Hockey Canada is a not-for-profit organization that creates leading-edge hockey development programs for its members to deliver in communities across Canada, provides consistent rules and regulations and various other membership services from coast to coast, manages numerous regional, national and international hockey championships and events, and leads the operation of all teams that represent Canada in international hockey competition. Hockey Canada’s mission is to “lead, develop and promote positive hockey experiences”.


• In correlation with the Director, Operations, plan and organize all logistics of Hockey Canada’s meetings.
This will include responsibilities such as;
o Preparation of hosting manuals, bulletins and other support materials.
o Regular communication on required items with Director, Operations.
o Action items from meetings (Board/Officers/Council/Committee/ED) and follow up as necessary
o Coordinating briefing materials for all meetings, adherence to deadlines, translation etc.
o Getting background on agenda items to ensure we are prepared to deal with these issues while on site at meetings
o Coordinate recommendations/discussion notes at meetings
o Supporting admin around Board meetings pre and post meeting
o Agenda preparation for all meetings, driving items from members and staff and ensuring follow up as required
o Assist with organization/coordination of international meetings held in Canada
o On-site assistance with event management
o Production, distribution and management of all required signage and promotional materials at all events.
o Support and coordinate all required post event follow up and reports.
o Support and fulfillment of requirements all stakeholders
o Provide input and support on budget development and management
o Ensure, as necessary, sponsor contra product and/or gifting is sourced and provided to required groups
• Administrative Support and Service to the Director, Operations
• Respond to general membership meeting logistic queries


• Proficiency with various computer software (Windows, MS Office, etc.) and office equipment.
• A positive and customer focused attitude with an ability to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work effectively individually and in a team-based environment
• Thorough understanding of Hockey Canada initiatives and structure
• Experience in all aspects of meeting management/coordination
• Ability to work and communicate effectively within a volunteer organization
• Ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
• Problem solver – able to think on feet in pressure situations
• Willingness to complete assignments/projects to high standards
• Flexible working hours- will need to be made available on evenings and weekends
• Able to establish priorities and work under pressure.
• Familiarity with travel and accommodation logistics
• Strong sense of individual deportment and presentation
• Bilingualism will be required
