Skate Canada

Application Deadline: March 8, 2013

Position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Job Description:
For over 125 years, Skate Canada has dedicated itself to providing every Canadian with the opportunity to learn life skills while experiencing the power, strength and creativity of one of Canada's premier winter sports. Skating clubs across Canada are enjoying continued growth, and new skating talent continues to be nurtured from coast to coast. Canada’s skaters are being supported by a network of outstanding volunteers and coaches, and leading up to a successful 2013 World Skating Championship, there is a feeling of great optimism for the sport and its momentum. It is within this exciting context that Skate Canada is searching for a new CEO.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO manages all financial and human resources of the Association, and works collaboratively with a national network of skating clubs, volunteers and athletes. As ambassador and key spokesperson for the Association, the CEO liaises with sponsors, partners, government, international stakeholders and skating clubs across Canada to ensure that all Canadians have access to a sport with deep and lasting roots in our national identity.

As the ideal candidate, you are a passionate advocate of a vision that sees every Canadian afforded the opportunity to participate in skating throughout their lifetime for fun, fitness or achievement. You have experience reporting to a board of directors, and have a talent for actualizing the great potential of volunteer boards. You are a strategic thinker with a track record of building and leading highly skilled management teams. You are equally comfortable in a corporate board room as you are at a local rink, and you understand that the association must be transparent and accountable in order to truly provide value to its members. Your ability to communicate in English and in French is a significant asset.

To explore this opportunity, please contact Eric Lathrop (613-742-3211) or Andrew Dumont (613-742-3210) of Odgers Berndtson, or by email andrew.dumont@odgersberndtson.ca. To be considered for this position, please submit your resume online at www.odgersberndtson.ca/en/careers/11453.
