Position: Marketing & Events Assistant

Job Description:
Marketing & Events Assistant (Contract March 1st- July 1st)

Nature of Work:
Volleyball Canada (VC) is a not-for-profit organization that provides leadership and oversees the development of Volleyball in Canada. It is a fast paced environment that during peak periods provides multiple and simultaneous, externally imposed, deadlines/timelines and constant interruptions. Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and outgoing personality are definite assets. Work is completed independently with general supervision. Travel and weekend work will be required. This position reports to the Marketing & Events Coordinator.

World League
-Volunteer Recruitment (two locations over three consecutive weekends) and management on site. This includes recruiting, communicating, training, scheduling, and post event follow-up.
- Assist in the creation of an entertainment plan. Recruit and communicate with potential entertainment groups (dance crews, marching bands etc.). Develop scripting for in game and during time-outs.
- Assist in the development of the ticket sales strategy. Work with staff and venues to accommodate group sales. Manage and service VIP requirements.
- Work on developing and executing efficient accreditation plan.
- Assist with the promotion, marketing, advertising and communication of the events to the volleyball community and all other targeted markets.
- General assistance as required in venue preparations, and event preparations

Other Duties:
- Other duties as required by Volleyball Canada

- Bilingualism is a requirement (French/English)
- University/College degree or equivalent in sport management, recreation, business or a related discipline.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff, athletes, volunteers, suppliers and the public in a pleasant and professional manner
- Ability to show leadership to build and maintain excellent working relationships.
- Knowledge of the sport of volleyball
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office is required.
- Ability to work independently demonstrating good judgmental, analytical, negotiation and business skills in a fast-paced environment with many conflicting priorities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- A positive attitude
