General Accountability
The Manager, Code & Accessibility, Games Overlay will provide overall code compliance structure, coordination and management required for delivery of temporary infrastructure at 60+ venues, as delivered by the Overlay team.

This will require liaison with multiple Ontario municipalities in the development of temporary infrastructure code requirements and standards working closely with the Overlay design team ensuring each venue is compliant and Games ready.
The position will involve engagement across up to twelve separate Ontario municipalities among which code compliance issues will vary.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Develop and manage code compliance strategy and policies for temporary infrastructure which mainly include; architectural, structural, civil, energy, water and accessibility.
• Coordinate municipality and relevant agencies relationships and develop strategy for code consistency across Games venues.
• Manage all deliverables required to obtain permits and approvals relating to Overlay’s temporary infrastructure delivery and build.
• Manage and develop review process for venues to achieve milestones and compliance.
• Manage code compliance issues resolution and tracking.
• Manage staff and contractors/suppliers to achieve code compliance goals for all venues.
• Provide onsite reviews during build out of temporary infrastructure to ensure compliance and occupancy approvals.
• Coordinate with Overlay Contract Management team to define and confirm code requirements required for all contractors and vendors.
• Coordinate with other functions on delivery strategies to ensure code compliance and successful fit out.
• Document relevant code and accessibility standards as agreed with municipalities.
• Work closely with and manage key consultants (Electrical, Building Services, Structural, Civil, and Utilities) to ensure code compliance issues are managed and coordinated across all design disciplines.

Educational/Technical Requirements
• Degree or diploma in architecture, engineering, project management or a related field
• High level of proficiency with Ontario Building Code and Municipal Codes within the Golden Horseshoe Area
• Working experience with local municipalities and agencies on code related projects
• Ability to manage staff and contractors/suppliers
• Design experience in sport venues or sporting events preferred
• Solid understanding of project management processes
