Position: Strength and Conditioning Coach

Job Description:
The Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA) is pleased to offer the opportunity for a full-time strength and conditioning coach to join our team in Halifax. The CSCA home, based at the Canada Games Centre, is the focal point for supporting Nova Scotia’s Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls. This position will also play a key role in the training and testing of Canada Games and provincial level athletes and will be pivotal in ensuring that these athletes continue to receive leading, dedicated expertise.

The successful candidate will be motivated to provide top level of service to our athletes and coaches and to strive for continual personal improvement. This position will join the performance services team currently employed by the CSCA.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Be responsible for designated weight room leadership times according to overall schedule determined by CSCA.
• Implementing provincial team strength and conditioning programs, as well as developing select programs
• Contribute, where required, to the training of national, regional, and provincial training groups
• Lead, develop, and implement testing and training programs for private clients
• Assisting with fitness testing sessions
• Contribute to maintaining a professional, clean, and organized facility
• Accountable to senior Strength and Physiology Staff
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Sport Science or Kinesiology related field
• NSCA - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
• Experience working with individuals and groups in a strength training or coaching setting
• Experience writing strength and conditioning programs • Proficiency with computers (particularly Microsoft Excel)
• Willingness to work designated evenings and weekends
• Desire to work in high performance environment
• Ability to work as a part of a team
Assets:
• Postgraduate degree
• Experience teaching or coaching Olympic lifts
• Desire to continue professional development
• Other certifications:
CSEP, NSCA, ACSM, CATA, NCCP, USAW, CPR-C

Contract:
The position will be a 3 year term with renewal opportunities and involve 40 hours of work per week.

Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience. A full benefit package is included.
