Supervisor: Fitness Coordinator and Director of Fitness and Membership
Schedule: Monday – Friday, work to job completion, some evenings and weekends required.
Exemption: Overtime Exempt
The Weight Room Attendant/Monitor is responsible for the day to day cleanliness of the facility. This position is responsible for keeping equipment clean, tidying all loose equipment, wiping down machines and reporting broken or unsafe equipment to the Fitness Coordinator or Director of Fitness and Membership. This position is also responsible for customer interaction on an ongoing basis to provide weight room orientation, help or instruction for new or inexperienced members and first aid or CPR in an emergency. Weight Room will maintain member and client relationships with an enthusiastic, knowledge and professional approach to customer service and personal training sessions. Other responsibilities:
? Maintains high standards of cleanliness, neatness and safety in the weight room.
? Follows all Centre policies and procedures.
? Enforces work processes and standard operating procedures to guide and regulate facility maintenance and safety.
? Ensure the effectiveness and timeliness of the preventative maintenance program for facility maintenance.
? Maintenance and minor repairs on weight room equipment as knowledge permits and as required.
? Provides a ‘customer service’ attitude that has a high focus on sense of urgency when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work and achieving quality standards.
? Assist in Fitness Class set-up and take down.
? Provide Front Desk coverage when requested.
? Work closely with direct Supervisors to resolve all maintenance issues.
? Maintain a professional working environment.
? Other duties as related to the Centre/Facility.
Knowledge & Skill Base:
? Communicate effectively with Supervisor and Co-workers.
? Efficient at working independently and within a team oriented environment.
? Able to deal courteously and effectively with the public and internal personnel.
? Entry level knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.
? Current First Aid/CPR would be preferred.
? Some knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in general maintenance, repairs and custodial work.
? Knowledge of routine building maintenance and minor repair tasks.
? Some knowledge of fitness equipment would be preferred.
