Position: Bilingual Assistant, Human Resources
Be a part of building and servicing a national brand. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.
The COC is seeking a dynamic, bilingual individual to join its Toronto office. Working with the HR Generalist within the larger Operations Team, the Assistant, Human Resources will be responsible for supporting HR objectives striving for an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes empowerment, integrity and high performance. The Assistant will assist the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources functions by providing supportive services in the following areas: General Administration, Recruitment/On-boarding, and Communications.
Core Responsibilities and Priorities
General Administration: • Supports the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR area; • Sorts through and follows up on incoming mail and emails as required; • Prepares and processes expense claims and invoices for approval; • Acts as back-up to the Payroll function; • Supports the administration of group benefits; • Runs and prepares reports for review;
Employee Administration: •Maintains the HR filing system and/or assists in uploading documents to HRIS; •Makes HRIS updates for all employee status changes; •Tracks and maintains all attendance records; •Assists with employee training, safety and wellness programs; •Assists with employee engagement events.
Recruitment/On-boarding: • Assists with pre-screening candidates; • Responds to recruitment emails and calls as directed; • Prepares recruiting and staffing logistics; • Assists with employee on-boarding.
Communications: • Corresponds with agencies, vendors as directed; • Prepares HR presentations for review; • Prepares drafts of selected internal communications for review.
Qualifications and Critical Skills
Education: • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Psychology or related field; • 2 years of relevant experience in the HR or related field.
Skills required include: • Good communication, both oral & written, in both EN & FR; • Impeccable attention to detail; • Understands the need for planning, follow through and follow-up; • Proven time management skills; • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task; • Positive can-do attitude; • Eagerness to learn and share opinions; • Active listener and team player; • Sense of humour; • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
