Position: Recreation Supervisor

The Recreation Supervisor is an organized, energetic, and experienced leader that can provide direction, innovation, and results to the Recreation Department and Recreation Manager. This role is an administrative and hands on position that plans for and delivers exceptional programs and customer care to participant members and guests in the youth, teen, and recreation areas of the Calgary Winter Club. As a supervisor, they provide leadership and guidance for staff and administer responsibilities that enhance the services and programming available at the CWC.

Key Accountabilities 1. Coordination, scheduling, and leading of successful recreational sports and activity programs catering to youth, teen, and adult members of the CWC 2. Instruct multi-sport programs 3. Assist Recreation Manager in hiring, training, and day to day supervision of staff 4. Supervise the Climbing Centre for drop-in, birthday, sports teams, and corporate functions 5. Supervise Youth and Teen drop-in areas for members ages 5-17 years old 6. Supervise after school sports programs, homework help sessions, movie nights, holiday events, adult sports leagues, summer camps and gymnasium drop-in activities 7. Set-up, take down, and monitor activities in the Gymnasium including Volleyball, Basketball, Pickleball, Soccer, and the “Fun Zone”

Skills & Qualifications 1. Knowledge of the Long Term Athlete Development Model and key concepts 2. Superior facilitation, organization and time management skills 3. Strong work ethic and initiative relating to continuous improvement 4. An entrepreneurial and innovative spirit 5. Strong written and verbal communication skills 6. Well developed decision making, judgment, and problem solving abilities 7. Degree in Recreation, Sport Administration, Kinesiology, Physical Education or related field 8. Minimum 3 years leadership experience in a supervisory/ management position. 9. Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED certifications 10. High Five PHCD, High Five Sport, Quest 2, Physical Literacy 101, or related certifications an asset 11. Flexibility in personal schedule to accommodate the demand of the position; available evenings and weekends
