SIRCThesaurus
History
For over 30 years, SIRC
has been identifying, organizing and communicating sport information.
During this time SIRC has been compiling a list of sport terminology
which is used to successfully search for information within the
SportDiscus™. The SportDiscus™
was created by SIRC in 1974 and is considered to be the leading
bibliographic sport database in the world.
In 1981, SIRC developed
the SIRCThesaurus (formerly known as SportThesaurus) to standardize
the terminology used to describe, search and retrieve information
from the SportDiscus™. New terms are qualified
for relevancy and the thesaurus is updated on a regular basis
to reflect the current trends in terminology.
