CIS FOOTBALL Archibald, Krahenbil, Palardy Claim Player-Of-The-Week Honours
OTTAWA (CIS) – McMaster quarterback Adam Archibald, Saskatchewan defensive back Jon Krahenbil and Saint Mary’s kicker Justin Palardy are the Canadian Interuniversity Sport football players of the week for the period ending Oct. 21, 2007.
Archibald, a fifth-year geography student from Kingston, Ont. claims the award on offence after setting single-game school records with 527 passing yards and a 108-yard touchdown toss in a 37-36 win over Guelph that gave the Marauders home-field advantage in the first round of the OUA playoffs against the same Gryphons, this Saturday. The six-foot-five, 230-pound senior, one of only two CIS quarterbacks to average over 300 yards through the air per outing this season, had four majors on 27-of-41 passing and kicked the game-winning rouge from 48 yards out with 6.8 seconds remaining on the clock.
Receivers Fraser O’Neill of Saint Mary’s, Charles-Antoine Sinotte of McGill and Leighton Heron of Saskatchewan were also up for the offensive honour.
Krahenbil, a commerce student from Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask. receives the defensive award after intercepting Alberta quarterback Quade Armstrong three times in a 28-13 win that allowed the No. 6-ranked Huskies (5-2) to remain tied for second place in Canada West with No. 7 Regina, on the eve of a final-week showdown with the Rams. The six-foot, 187-pound defensive back added two solo tackles in the victory.
Defensive backs Saleem Borhot of Saint Mary’s, Sébastien Sejean of Laval and Nick Kordic of Western were also nominated on the defensive side of the ball.
