Silver for Green and Landeryou in Seoul at Racquetball World Championships

Mike Green of Burlington, Ont. and Tim Landeryou of Saskatoon had to settle for silver in Seoul, South Korea at the 15th International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Championships, as they lost to the top seeded American team of Ben Croft and Mitch Williams, 15-2, 15-13. Williams, a left-hander, was one of the defending World Champions in men's doubles having won the title two years ago in Ireland with Jason Thoerner.

Green and Landeryou were the first Canadians to reach the men's doubles final since Green and Mike Ceresia did so in 2002.

The silver medal will go with the gold medal the Canadians won earlier this year at the Pan American Championships in Honduras. Landeryou's now been on the podium in both of his appearances on Team Canada.

Bringing home bronze medals will be Canada's women's doubles team of Brandi Jacobson Prentice (Montreal) and Frédérique Lambert (Montreal), who were both playing in their first World Championships, and veteran Vincent Gagnon of Montreal in men's singles.

Wednesday is an off day and then the team competition begins on Thursday. Countries playoff in best of three competitions - two singles matches and one doubles match - on both the men's and women's side. That competition will continue through Saturday.
