Grande Prairie points boost new Tour leaders
After all was said and done at this past weekend’s Canadian Rodeo Tour stop in Grande Prairie, Alta., four new leaders emerged at the top of the Canadian Rodeo Tour standings.
Scott Bresee (Ponoka, Alta.) took the lead in the saddle bronc standings, Chris Hansen (Caroline, Alta.) climbed to the top of the bull riding scoreboard, tie-down roper Slim Creighton (Standoff, Alta.) skipped right over last year’s Canadian champion Cliff Williamson in their event and Raylee Edwards (Lethbridge, Alta.) is now the number one barrel racer.
The Grande Prairie Stompede, held June 3-5, was the third stop on the 11-rodeo Canadian Rodeo Tour, which pre-qualifies the top two point earners at the end of the Tour for the Canadian Finals Rodeo, regardless of their citizenship. Currently there aren’t any non-Canadians sitting in the first- or second-place spots in the Tour standings, but Montanan Josh Reynolds is third in the saddle bronc ranks and Oklahoman Mike Johnson is in the same spot in the tie-down event.
The next stop on the Tour will be in Innisfail, Alta., at the 45th Annual Daines Ranch Rodeo, held June 15-19.

Hot streak continues for steer wrestling Milan
With only 16 pro rodeos finished in the 2005 season, Cochrane, Alta.’s Baillie Milan is the hottest cowboy on the Canadian pro rodeo scene. The fourth-year pro cowboy has racked up a total of $17,582 so far this year—almost $7,500 more than second-place Lee Graves—in the steer wrestling.
At the Grande Prairie Stompede this past weekend, Milan won $2,037 with team roping partner Curtis Cassidy, moving him back on top of the team roping heeler standings.
The 23-year-old bulldogger currently sits 15th in the American-based PRCA’s world standings as well, on money won entirely north of the border.

2005 CANADIAN RODEO TOUR
For the 2005 season, the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association will once again feature the Canadian Rodeo Tour, which is made up of 11 high-profile rodeos in Canada.
This high-excitement, talent-driven tour offers an added bonus to contestants who compete in it:
the top two point-getters in each of the five major events and barrel racing at the completion of the Tour will be pre-qualified for the 2005 Canadian Finals Rodeo.
These two berths are open to all full CPRA members who qualify, regardless of citizenship.
Points for each location will be distributed as follows:
1-head: 80 points for 1st to 10 points for 8th
Multi-head and aggregate: 40 points for 1st to 5 points for 8th (for each go-round and aggregate)
