Ask a SIRC Librarian
Dear SIRC Librarian:
I am working on a bid project for hosting a national event in Canada. I was curious as to whether SIRC has access to any previous bids relating to national events in Canada or other countries. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Take Care,
George
Dear George:
Thank you for sending an email to Ask-A-Librarian. There is quite a bit of information on bidding in the SIRC collection. Some examples of what you will find are:
You can start with searching the SportDiscus with Full Text by combining the following terms:
- Bid*, Canada
- Bidding, Canada
- Hosting, Canada
- Bid*, host*, Canada
When you use the (*) you are truncating the word so in the case of bid* you would search for bid, bidding, bids.
Also you can use the search operators in the search boxes to expand your search. An example would be:
Box One:Bid* OR host*
Box Two: Canada
This will expand your search to include (bid* OR host*) AND Canada looking for documents that may contain any of those terms variations of bid and host that also have the term Canada.
You can use the Search history/Alerts tab to combine searches that you have done.
If you find material that you like you can click on the “Add” section and it will collect the articles into a folder where you can then email/download/ or print the references in the citation style of your choice.
Hopefully this will have answered your question. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further requests.
Sincerely,
Your SIRC Librarian
