ABCs of Nutrition
Nutrition is very important for an athlete. Knowing what to eat and when to eat it is essential. Your body requires different foods when gearing up for a competition compared to when it is cooling down after one. It is also important to understand how to maintain your level of energy when you are faced with a day full of competition. Just as important as fueling your body, ensuring you keep your body well hydrated is necessary to achieve your top performance.

Therefore, there are several aspects to refuelling for recovery which are important to all athletes.

The search for ways to enhance performance and muscle growth through dietary manipulation is not new. Questions abound regarding the optimal amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fat needed to boost performance, while nutrition recommendations based on training goals are plentiful. A new twist on current science is concentration on when, rather than just what, athletes should consume before, during and after a training session to optimize their performance and recovery.

Dear SIRC Librarian:
Do you have any guidelines for screening volunteers for sport clubs? How would I find this in Sport Discus with full-text? Is it available in full text and can the result be emailed to me?
