Warm Up and Warm Down
Running may be one of the most natural forms of motion known to man, but it’s not all plain sailing. During a 5-mile run, your feet strike the ground around 10,000 times with an impact of up to 3 times your body weight. Add to that the fact that the main running muscles aren’t generally worked full range which means they become shortened and stiff, and you begin to see that a regular running program can take its toll on your poor body! The good news is that by taking a few simple steps before and after each run, you can not only protect your body from soreness and injury you’ll also run better and recover faster. It’s time to talk about warming up and stretching.

Safe Summer Running
With the summer months looming up on us, it’s time to review the single most serious threat to the runners’ life—heat. Ask A SIRC Librarian |
|

SIRC members have access to SIRC librarians and we are pleased to share some of your questions.
Dear SIRC Librarian:
I am looking for research in the related field of 'hockey injuries and aggressive behaviour' that may have been published in the last 5 years. If you point me in the right direction I can gather the relevant research. As well, anything to do with body checking in hockey in this same time period is also of great value to me.
Hope you can help.
Wade
