Dear SIRC Librarian:

I am a member of SIRC and would like to know how I can set up an alert to receive the Table of Contents of my favorite publications when they are added to the SportDiscus with Full Text.

Answer:

Dear Ryan:

Thank you for emailing Ask a Librarian. Setting up an Alert is easy and will only take a few minutes. You will need to create a personal account within SportDiscus which is very useful. Setting up personal account allows to you save your searches, set up alerts as well as set your searching preferences.

To set up your personal account:

• Log in to your SIRC Member area
• Select SportDiscus with Fulltext
• Select “Sign in to MY Ebscohost” from the top right hand corner.
• Create a personal profile

To set up an Alert:

• Select the “Publications” tab
• Enter the title of the journal you are searching ex. Sports Medicine Standards & Malpractice Reporter
• Upon finding publication select “Alert/Save/Share” from the right hand corner
• Select “Create an alert”
• Fill out form and enter your email address in the box. Select “Continue”
• You should receive an email regarding your alert.
