Coaching Kids Successfully: 100 Years of Motor Development Research
It is important to understand the guidelines and principles surrounding coaching young athletes. Principles for coaches involved in track and field are provided including the development of athletes, the principle that children are not miniature adults, that boys and girls are more alike than different, that good things are earned, and that no body (nobody) is perfect. What are athletes' memories of their favorite coach? Player preferences of coaching behavior can affect both their attitudes toward their sport experiences and team performance. By identifying positive coaching behaviors as recalled by athletes, coach educators can ensure that the curriculum in their courses reflect those preferences. | SIRC and AthletesCAN Announce Partnership
The Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) and AthletesCAN have joined forces to help our Canadian high performance athletes. This partnership provides our athletes with easy access to the most comprehensive competitive and training resources; a sport librarian to help answer any questions; and the latest opportunities related to careers in sport. An athlete is always searching for ways to improve; now it’s easier to find the resources and strengthen their competitive intelligence.
To kick off the partnership SIRC will be attending the AthletesCAN Forum which will be held at the Westin Edmonton Hotel, September 14-18. SIRC will be onsite from September 15-17 to help familiarize and answer questions from the AthletesCAN members.
