Chatelaine's Picks Include SIRC and CAAWS

Ottawa, October 8, 2002: Chatelaine, Canada's #1 women's magazine, recognizes Canadiansport.com and Caaws.ca as top sport and fitness sites. Chatelaine's third annual 'Essential Web Guide' found also at www.chatelaine.com rates Canadiansport.com and Caaws.ca among the 300 best sites on health, sport, fitness, nutrition and more.

The popular Canadian magazine labels Canadiansport.com as a "must-visit (site) for amateur sports enthusiasts". The Web Guide highlights Canadian Sport News, the National Sport Directory and the Canadian sport Job Postings page.

CAAWS, Chatelaine's partner in 'On-the-Move' walking clubs received praise for their website. CAAWS.ca provides "inspiration to get off the couch and be active."

Chatelaine's Web Guide helps the information seeker by identifying quality, easy to use sites with search capabilities and a statement of ownership. Canadiansport.com and CAAWS.ca were chosen over millions of other websites by Chatelaine as being "reputable sites offering the most reliable, well-organized and useful content."- Chatelaine, Sept.2002.

Other Canadian websites listed among the best in sport include tenniscanada.com and skatecanada.ca

Chatelaine inspires more than 1.5 million of Canada's busiest women to create the lives they want, by speaking to the strength of the inner woman: her passion, purpose and sense of possibility. Today's Chatelaine speaks with energy and passion about the things that get her up in the morning, from her favourite sport to her closest relationships.

The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport (CAAWS) encourages girls and women to get off the bleachers and onto the fields and playing courts, into the pools, the locker rooms and boardrooms! CAAWS works in close co-operation with government and non-government organizations on activities and initiatives that advocate for positive change for young girls and women in the sport and physical activity communities.
