OTTAWA, May 24, 2002: The SIRCThesaurus
has expanded its reach to the Netherlands. The Netherlands
Olympic Committee*Netherlands Sports Confederation (NOC*NSF)
has translated the SIRCThesaurus to facilitate research
of sport and related information. Over ninety Dutch national
sport organizations, high performance coaches and Dutch
researchers will use the SIRCThesaurus to navigate the NOC*NSF's
website database collection.

The SIRCThesaurus is the defacto standard in sport terminology.
It allows for accurate and rapid retrieval of sport information
and is an important feature of the SPORTDiscus database.
The Norwegian University of Sport and Physical Education,
the Wingate Institute for Physical Education and Sport,
the University of Oregon and the Chinese Sports Federation
are but a few institutions in over 50 countries that use
the SIRCThesaurus. SPORTDiscus subscribers in Holland such
as The University of Amsterdam, Haagse Hogeschool and Koninklijke
Library will now have the benefit of searching SIRC's database.

The SIRCThesaurus was first drafted in 1981 to act as a
research tool for the SPORTDiscus. Over the years the SIRCThesaurus
has facilitated targeted sport information retrieval by
researchers, students, coaches and sport medicine practitioners
worldwide. The SIRCThesaurus reflects the constant development
of sport and sport related vocabulary. It houses over 27,000
descriptors including all sport, medical, science and social
science terminology. Personal names, corporate terms, sport
teams and geographical terms are also incorporated.
The Netherlands Olympic Committee*Netherlands Sport Confederation
represents ninety Dutch sport associations. The NOC*NSF
is dedicated to increasing the quality of sport at both
the grassroots and high performance levels. The NOC*NSF's
